Sunscreen is important for everyone, but especially for people with acne, since most blemish-blasting ingredients increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Many people see sunburn as a quick fix for acne, since sunburn causes the face to peel and the burned skin takes zits off with it. Don't buy into this myth. The sun might temporarily dry out zits, but they will come back and they may eventually be joined by wrinkles, age spots, or even cancer.
That's exactly what I went through back when I had acne from ages 15-19. Back then I experimented with every acne cream, lotion, and ointment available. I remember spending $60 for a special mask made out of cactus! But nothing seemed to work, or if it did work, it never lasted, and the acne always returned.
Although benzoyl peroxide works well, it is possible you may have a reaction, it is suggested that any benzoyl peroxide skin care product should not contain the active ingredient at more than 5.5 percent. You might have to try a few different creams or lotions before you find the acne skin care product that is effective for you're skin. If nothing you try seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist.
